I created A Penny For Your Heart because I have a toxic relationship with money.
I have a high-paying job with a six-figure salary and hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings and investments. I am close to being in the top 1% earners for my age, yet I struggle to be grateful for what I have. I want to be more content and more generous, but I often feel broke. I am always reluctant to spend money on activities and people that I love. I find myself constantly worrying about money.
I’m not sure exactly what about money causes me anxiety. Perhaps I fear losing it all one day, or maybe I’m just so used to being poor that I can’t quite grasp having disposable income. I grew up poor—my family had enough for the essentials, but we couldn’t afford any luxuries. My parents didn’t teach me much about money, except to spend cautiously because it was always scarce. They didn’t shield me from their financial struggles and even praised me when I was frugal.
I want to unlearn this mindset and become more generous—both to myself and to others. I want to invest and grow my wealth wisely.
I don’t want to build wealth soley for the purpose of accumulating possessions. I want to approach wealth-building with a love-driven mindset, where money is a tool to cultivate love. I want to have and spend money on loving myself, loving others, and loving our planet. I want to use money in ways that fill my heart and enrich my life.
A Penny For Your Heart is a way for me to hold myself accountable and share my learnings with others who might benefit. Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or suggestions—I’d love to hear from you!
